January 10th, 2011My internship in review
December 31st, 2010Hello everyone,
I cannot believe the semester of my internship is already coming to an end! I have had so much fun doing this internship with Kendra and learned so much from her! This internship was an absolutely invaluable experience in learning professional photography. Kendra has worked so hard to learn everything in this business and takes amazing photos. I can’t believe I’ve had an opportunity to absorb all of her knowledge and she has helped me develop business skills, learning my camera, interacting with clients, and of course, wedding experience. We have become good friends and have shared so many laughs! Kendra has also been helping me launch my own photography business and I’m super excited! My business is called Amber Dyrdahl Photography and you can find it at: http://www.amberdyrdahlphotography.com! So click on over, check out the buzz, and follow me on my new journey as a photographer.
Also I would like to give Kendra another magnanimous “THANK YOU!” for everything she has done for me.
In closing, I would like to show you ten of my favorite photos that I’ve taken while being an intern with Hadley Photography:
Merry Christmas! And Workshop Dates…
December 23rd, 2010///////////////
Not the BIG announcement yet. That’s taking forever. But it’s REALLY close now. I promise.
The next Functional Photography workshop:
January 21st (6-10pm) – Part I (Functional Photography)
A beginner course to help you to get technically familiar with your camera and move you towards shooting in manual. Great for moms, hobbyists, people considering a big digital camera purchase – anyone! Contact me for more details.
(($150))
January 22nd (10am-4pm) – Part II
An advanced course for those looking to take their photography to the next level.
We’ll cover the following:
Defining your vision, inspiration, etc. as a photographer – what makes you unique?
Review of technical settings – getting you to be CONFIDENT in Manual
Equipment related to going PRO
More intense Photoshop discussion – RAW, actions, sizing for web/print, etc.
Personal photo critique – framing, editing, etc. (we will actually work on YOUR pictures)
Portfolio development
Getting started as a business – branding, blogging, social networking, setting up your pricing structure, interacting with clients, etc.
Business tips from my experience (and all the things I wish I would have done differently!)
Practice shoots – family/children, couple (watch me interact with clients + get portfolio shots for yourself)
Any and all questions you have
(($250))
The Part II class will get personal – we won’t just talk theory, we’ll talk about YOUR vision, YOUR business, YOUR pictures. Come ready to be challenged! For that reason, I will be keeping this class very small, so register early. There are only a few seats remaining.
I do require that you either take this class or be confident enough to shoot mostly in manual before attending the second part. Part II is $50 off for those who have taken Part I; the cost to register for both is $350.
Classes will be held at my home in North Fargo; details will be sent as the date approaches.
TO REGISTER -
Send me an email with the following:
Your name, email, address, & phone number
Which class(es) you plan to attend

Any other specific questions/issues you would like to see addressed in our time together
Once I receive this information, I will email you an invoice for payment. You are only considered “registered” once this payment has been received.

And this post needs some pictures, so Merry Christmas from Hadley (and me)!!

Jake & Sarah
December 19th, 2010These soon-to-be parents made my job so incredibly easy. Doesn’t Sarah have the glow?
Soulista in Moorhead was gracious enough to let us use their space (Sarah is a member there) and it was so beautiful I might take up yoga.
Can’t wait to meet the little one.

December 3rd, 2010Matt & Heather | Maryland Family Session
December 1st, 2010I went to high school with Heather’s little brother (who is now all grown up and married with 1.5 kids of his own!) and met up with her family for a session when I was in Maryland last month. Her kids were so sweet – I had such a hard time picking favorites to share! Check out those blue eyes.
Thank you!
